April 2016 Principal's Message

Welcome back! I hope that everyone had a restful and well-deserved Spring Break. Hopefully, the snow will continue to clear and we can start to enjoy some real spring weather.

Our registration process for next year is now in full swing. This year, our registration process will be done online (myBlueprint) for grade 10 and 11 students. Between the dates of April 21st & 29th our grade 7-11 students will be completing their registration during the school day. The grade 7-9 students will be doing the registration procedure on paper during the FBI time with their Homeroom teachers and the grade 10 and 11 students will be going to computer labs to complete their registrations for next year using the myBlueprint software program. Parents will need to sign the consent form and have their students return them to the school by Wednesday May 4th. Your child's registration will only be considered complete once they have selected their courses on line or filled in their paper registration form and the registration form or parental consent form are retuned to our school. This is the third year that our school is doing this online registration process and I would like to ask that you be patient with the process as we work our way through this process again. Our Student Services Personnel and Administration will also be meeting with the Stettler Elementary School and Botha School grade 6 students on April 11th, in the PAC,from 9:15 A.M. - 10:30 A.M. to discuss their programming for next year.  On April 12th all of our current grade 9 students, plus the Erskine, Big Valley, Donalda, Byemoor and Christ King grade 9 students will be going through an orientation in the PAC from 10:10 A.M. - 11:30 A.M. Also, on Thursday April 12th at 6:30 P.M. our administrative team will be hosting a parent information night in the Performing Arts Centre. Please make sure that these consent forms are returned to our school before May 4th. You may run the risk of not getting your full choice of courses if your registration and consent forms are not returned on time. If you have any questions regarding our registration process please feel free to contact the school. If you will have a son or daughter in grade 12 next year please remember to pay particular attention to all of the graduation requirements that are listed in our Course Offerings Book.

Between March 14th and 18th, our teachers hosted our semester two Student Learning Conferences. The participation of our grade 10 and 11 students and parents was once again outstanding. Thank you to all of the parents that attended these Student Learning Conferences with your students.

On April 20th, report cards will be handed out to students during their TA and Homeroom classes. If your child does not bring their report card home, please feel free to contact our school to get a copy. Also on Thursday April 28th, we will be having our last Parent-Teacher interviews of the year between 6:30 & 9:00 P.M in our High School gym. Our School Council meeting for this month will be on 5th of April at 7:00 P.M. in our Learning Commons.

The Graduation Committees have been meeting and planning for sometime now and things are moving along quite smoothly. The students are practicing for the Grand March and it should once again be an outstanding graduation ceremony. Graduation ceremony tickets money is due April 7th. All grade 12 students that are a part of graduation ceremony are allotted 15 tickets at $15 each to start with. If you require more than 15 ceremony tickets, your child should have requested that on the front of the Graduation Cost Form. Money for those tickets is due April 13th, the tickets on the Waiting List will be handed out and any remaining tickets will be available for sale to the general public.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to call Mr. Baharally, school principal, at 403-742-3466 or e-mail me.

Mr. Baharally
